A disability is for life. When a learner with special needs leaves
education their disability remains with them. It is important that
post-compulsory education providers take this into consideration
and are able to support their on-going needs.
SEMERC create materials to support the older learner with special
education needs. Working in partnership with Home Farm Trust, a
national charity that supports people with learning disabilities,
we have produced award-winning software designed to meet some of
the needs of the older learner.
The Out
and About series, for example, aims to support the older learner
in developing the vital lifeskills they will need both in the community
and within their own home settings.
Assessability,
developed in association with our sister company GL Assessment,
is designed to assess basic entry level skills and cognitive abilities.
It is particularly useful for older learners with SEN who are about
to enter college.
